Sunday Musings

It is a quiet Sunday afternoon after a hectic week of doing all sorts of things and not realising how fast the days are passing by. Time to reflect on the now. I am aware that it is not an easy task to really stand still and observe myself. The list of things to do […]

Celebrating Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day. Be sure to get behind this great organisation by buying a bunch of daffodils. The volunteers from the Cancer Society made an amazing effort to come out to Thyme Out Estate on a cold and rainy day to collect daffodils from us for the big day.

An Ode to the Op-Shop

My love of the op-shop goes back many years. As a young immigrant, the op-shop was my refuge to find all those household necessities for the children and I. There is so much choice and all the money went to a good cause – a real win-win situation.

Getting Ready for Spring

The daffodils are here, giving us an early indication that the days are getting longer and spring is near. Frans is busy mowing the lawn and reflecting over the gate what he will be doing next. It’s lovely to have a place to reflect and to put some ideas together for the future. All the […]

Time Out at Thyme Out

Well, it has been awhile but I was busy taking a bit of time out for myself. While we still had our usual guests coming over for a visit, which is always a delight, I took advantage of the quiet at Thyme Out to enjoy a bit of a retreat for myself. I had all […]

The Heat Just Keeps Coming

Lately it seems as though the sun never sets on Thyme Out. We’ve been waking up with the sun blazing through the blue sky and spending many a lunchtime out on the deck taking in the rays. Mind you, we made sure to invest in a sun umbrella with a UPF Protection Rating of 50+. […]

Reflecting on the Seasons

It’s a new month and still so many things to do while the summer is here. To wake up with the blue sky and warm sun certainly puts the guests in a good mood and I make the most of it by serving them a lovely breakfast with the bi-fold windows wide open. The views […]
