Sunflowers on the Brain

Well, the warm days are upon us and everybody is in a festive mood. Time to reflect, relax and let the sun warm you up.

I’ve always wanted to grow sunflowers because, as a child, I was amazed to learn that their heads turn towards the sun. I thought it was magical that plants could do this!

So to make a somewhat long standing dream a reality, we got some sunflower seeds and planted them directly in the soil in order to give them a good head start. At the moment they are growing well and I make sure to keep them weed free.

We have planted them at the back of the old barn so they get a good amount of sun and that they are sheltered from the severe winds.

Haven’t seen any flower heads just yet but it is still early days. We’ll just have to wait and see as summer continues.
