The Heat Just Keeps Coming

Lately it seems as though the sun never sets on Thyme Out.
We’ve been waking up with the sun blazing through the blue sky and spending many a lunchtime out on the deck taking in the rays.
Mind you, we made sure to invest in a sun umbrella with a UPF Protection Rating of 50+. You can definitely feel the difference.
There’s really nothing like spending a bit of time outdoors in this marvellous weather and getting more than your daily dose of Vitamin D.
For all of you stuck in an office job, see if you can find a nice perch outside to enjoy your lunch in the sun. I’m sure there’s a few choice bench spots in the neighbourhood.
One thing I have particularly enjoyed about the summer months is how gorgeous the night sky seems to look after the sun goes down.
Perhaps it’s because we don’t have any street lights which is why the stars seem to be so much brighter.
After a long hot day the night really comes alive with all the nocturnal animals. For them, the day is just starting! They rustle through the dry leaves and scurry about trying to find something to eat.
Due to the hot weather that is affecting most of the North Island, the grass has really dried out in our paddock next door. We decided it was time to call in a local contractor to collect it all.
So last week he came along with his big red tractor and, in no time at all, had the whole lot cut and picked up.
I’m sure it will go to help a desperate farmer who is slowly but steadily running out of feed for his animals.
I thought I’d end with a lovely photo showing just how resilient life can be, no matter how harsh the conditions.
This pretty pink flower is still looking beautiful even after going without water for well over three months.
It’s nature’s way of telling us not to give up!
