It was D-Day for the daffodils today as they put their best faces forward to help the Cancer Society’s fundraising campaign.
I was privileged to welcome the Society’s two volunteers Jackie and Jim to the Thyme Out Estate. It was their first visit to our place and they thought the views were amazing.
Jackie and Jim are originally from South Africa and have made New Zealand their home for the past 5 years.
They have been active volunteers for the Cancer Society and the hospice in Feilding and it was great to see the couple doing their bit for the Feilding community.
After swapping their shoes for gumboots, I directed them to the field where the daffodils have been growing.
Jackie thought there were some different varieties among them and that they would make for an interesting display of flowers.
Once the buckets were full, they had enough to return to Feilding where the daffodils will be distributed among local businesses and used to fill orders made by the local community.
So today with the beautiful sun beaming down on us, I hope the daffodils brighten up the day of those who have bought them and put a smile on their faces (because honestly who can resist them!)
But most importantly, I hope they help to generate much needed funds for the Cancer Society’s fundraising effort.
